B.A. Meeting Scheduled
Hi All !!!!
Just getting the word out that the first BA meeting of the season will be held
Monday, June 16th 2008 at 8:00pm in the hangar.
For those people that are new to BA meetings, we meet once a month during the summer,
(and sometimes fall), to discuss…
you guessed it…SAFETY.
We had some really great topics and speakers last year.
Steve Yak started us off last June with a lecture and discussion about Landing Patterns.
In July we had Matt Dowling lead us through Water Training
which is a requirement when applying for a B-license.
In August, Don Baldino reviewed and demonstrated gear checks and in September,
Jerry, our pilot reviewed Aircraft Safety and Emergencies.
Some drop zones have Safety Day…well at SDJS, we sort of have “Safety Days”.
It really is an excellent opportunity to meet with other jumpers, share stories,
have questions answered, learn something new, etc. etc.
So…..our plan for June 16 th is that we'll have Matt Dowling speak to us about
Packing Tips and Rigging.
Matt has recently finished a Rigging Course and has lots of advice
and tips about
packing that he wants to offer.
Now I know many of you are thinking that you don't know how to pack yet or
maybe you don't even want to know how to pack!!!
(Or, like me, you just don't like to pack…).
Well, then this meeting is for YOU!
If you are newer to skydiving, keep in mind, YOU WILL need to pack your parachute to get your
A-license.
And besides, knowing Matt, (and the really great speaker that he is),
he will definitely stray from the topic and talk about other aspects of skydiving,
(for those who are still completely turned off by the subject of “packing”).
Finally, I want to remind everyone that BA meetings are held rain or shine.
And also to get the word out to anyone that I might have missed.
Hope to see you all there.
Liz
(and don't worry…I won't forget the chips and homemade salsa)
